MCpl Danny Bruce Turner CD

Danny was born in Shilo in 1952, spent his formative years as a “PMQ brat, in Shilo”. At 19, Dan joined the military, embarking on a remarkable journey. Danny enlisted on June 14th, 1972 and attended boot camp in Cornwallis, NS. He moved on to Borden Cook School and then was posted to Portage La Prairie. He was then transferred and served 2 years at CFS Masset in BC, then called Queen Charlotte Islands.

In 1976, Dan returned to Shilo, where he was based until 1983. In 1978–79 Danny participated in a UN tour in Egypt, stationed in Ismailia. In 1981 Dan achieved the rank of Master Corporal. In 1983 Dan was posted to CFB Edmonton AB, and this year married his love. In 1984 Dan spent six months in Alert. In 1993 Danny volunteered for a mission in Croatia. That same year Dan was posted to the First Field Ambulance in Calgary, AB.

Finally in 1997 after 25 years of service Dan retired. After retirement Danny joined the Commissioners, worked for a senior care home and has since retired them as well. Danny continues his love of watching hockey, driving around Alberta, and spending time with his family and Golden Retriever, Alfie.
