Sergeant Gordon T. Omand

Gordon was born in Winnipeg in 1912. He was raised in Rooster Town and was the youngest of six children. His father, Private George Albert Omand was killed August 16, 1917 as part of the Canadian Infantry (Manitoba Regiment) during World War 1. He is buried in the Vimy Memorial, Pas de Calais France.

Gordon entered World War 2 in 1939. He was a proud member of the Fort Garry Horse. He was injured but was able to recover to take part in D Day.

After the war, in 1945 he returned to Winnipeg. In 1950 he married Jean Moug and they had four daughters. They resided in Charleswood and he was a member of Charleswood Legion till his death in 1971.
