Gunner Arthur T. Moug

Arthur (Art) Thomas Moug was born September 1926, son of William Moug And Annie Moug. He was the youngest of six and was raised in Charleswood. He joined World War II in 1943 and was sent to Regina for training. He was then transferred to Shilo, however the war ended and he never left Canada.

He married Eva Stratton and they had five children – Bill, Nancy, Tom, Ted and Jennifer. From 1966 to 1971 he served as the mayor of Charleswood. In 1969 he was elected Conservative MLA for Charleswood and was re-elected in 1973. In 1977 he received the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal. He moved to Grande Prairie in 1980 and passed away there in July 2003. His family is commemorated by Moug Park in Charleswood.
