Sergeant George LaCroix

George LaCroix grew up on Elmhurst St., the same area where many of his grandchildren grew up. At the time of his enlistment in 1940 he was married with two children. He perished on June 6th, 1944 D-Day. He was a member of the 1st Parachute Battalion that landed on the allied left flank to capture and hold the vital Pegasus Bridge into Eastern France, preventing allied troops from being trapped along the shore.
