Trooper Arthur William Grieve

Driver/Mechanic, Lord Strathcona’s Horse
1950–1953

Art was born at Souris MB in 1932. At age 8 he moved to Winnipeg with his family. When he was 18, he enlisted with LORD STRATHCONA’S HORSE (RCA) and trained in Calgary as Driver/Mechanic on Sherman Tanks. His aim was to be deployed to serve in Korea. However, that War ended in 1953 as did his initial 3 year commitment to serve with the Canadian Armed Forces. Following discharge, he. returned to Winnipeg where he was employed as a CNR Switchman for 35 years until retirement in 1988. Art passed away in 2010. He was predeceased by his wife Audrey in 1984.
