Captain Andrew R. Adam

Andrew was born in Winnipeg. He was raised in the Charleswood area and attended Royal School, Charleswood Junior High and Shaftesbury High School.

He joined the Army in 2003 and was enlisted into the Royal Canadian Armored Corps. He attended basic training in St. Jean Quebec and Battle School in Gagetown New Brunswick. He was posted to Edmonton with the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians in A. B. and Recce Squadron).

In 2006 he was deployed to Afghanistan as part of the RCR Battlegroup. This was the first tank unit deployed by Canada since the Korean War. During the tour his Squadron conducted combat operations to attack and destroy the Taliban strongholds west of Kandahar.

After returning to Edmonton in 2007 he began the process of transferring a reserve unit, the Fort Garry Horse in Winnipeg. In 2009 he joined the Winnipeg Police service. He lives in Charleswood with his wife Laurel and son Jordy.
