Candlelight Service of Remembrance

Please join us for a Candlelight Service of Remembrance. The event will begin with a Royal Canadian Air Force Band concert. This will be followed by a Service of Remembrance to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, honouring all who served our country. We will also recognize the 100th Anniversary of 17 Wing Winnipeg – Canadian Forces Base Winnipeg.

All are welcome.

Date: September 10, 2025
Time: 6 p.m.
Location: Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave.

On September 10, 1939, Canada made the solemn decision to enter the Second World War. Eighty-six years later, we continue to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who served and those who waited for their return.

To honour their memory, a City of Winnipeg candlelight vigil will be held at Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg on Tuesday, September 10, 2025,  (6 p.m.). Brookside, home to one of the largest Commonwealth war cemeteries in North America, is a place of remembrance where we can gather as a community to pay tribute to the fallen.

We invite veterans, families, and citizens of all ages to join us in this quiet act of remembrance. A LED candle will be provided to place on a grave of a fallen military. We will stand together in gratitude for the sacrifices that helped shape our freedom today.

Lest we forget.
