Tank Talk for January 2019

CHARLESWOOD LEGION #100

TANK TALK FOR JANUARY 2019

Well Comrades, welcome to 2019. We hope you all had a safe & happy Holiday Season with friends and family.  This being the first issue of 2019, we will highlight some changes. The new Executive Committee will officially take over on January 1, 2019 at the Branch levy. With the new Executive there are a few new faces on the board. Of course, the big one is Comrade Spencer Ready as our new Branch President and we welcome him and his Executive Committee to their new posts.

Another new thing starting for the February edition of the “Tank Talk” newsletter, will be that you are going to be able to sign up for an electronic copy of the newsletter. You will now be the first to know about all of the new and exciting events coming up at your branch. We will also be introducing other columns to help promote and foster community communication. It is also the intent to send out surveys to ask our subscribers what they want to see from their branch newsletter. More information on that to follow in the next edition. Please look for signup sheets on the bulletin board if you wish to start receiving your “Tank Talk” newsletter by email.

Public Relations – new link

Another new addition to Branch communication is a new email address for anything related to Public Relations, Media, Newsletter articles, etc. If you have something you want to share with our branch and community, or you have suggestions for future items in our newsletter then we want to hear from you and get this information out!

The email address you may now use for this is:

Rcl100PR@gmail.com

Also watch for our new “Social Media” presence as we move into the new era. You will be able to follow your branch on Twitter, Instagram, etc. So stay tuned…

Weekly Events

Various sporting leagues happen in the legion weekly. Some of these include: Pool, pool top, billiards, curling, darts. Look for schedules of these in future editions.

Senior events and Ladies Auxiliary events occur as well. Some include: Bingo, lunches/dinners, cribbage. These will also be included in future editions.

Friday Foods – Start at 5:30 p.m. (look for menu on tables) – future editions will have list, if known

Friday Meat Draw & Track the Jack – Start at 6:00 p.m.

Saturday Meat Draw – Start at 3:00 p.m.

Please look for the signup sheet on the bulletin board if you wish to receive your “Tank Talk” newsletter by email. This means you will be the first to know about upcoming events as the electronic version usually goes out 24 hours before the print copy. Print copies of “Tank Talk” will still be available at the branch. If you do not wish to put your email address on the bulletin board please email me direct at rcl100pr@gmail.com

This being my first edition as the new Public Relations Officer I will keep it short and concise. However, watch for more exciting columns and information in future editions. I will always be open to listen to new ideas for articles and ways to share with our community about The Royal Canadian Legion, and specifically Charleswood Branch #100. Please let me know if there is anything you would like to see in our monthly newsletter, as I want this to become a great resource for all areas of our branch.

Sincerely,

Cde William Trefry – Public Relations Officer
