I am adding a personal note to the newsletter this month.
Have you ever thought about how things get done at the Legion?
Volunteers do it all.
The Ladies Auxiliary, The Colour Party, Friday Foods, The Executive Board, Bingo, Meat Draws, Track The Jack, the Open House and Family Day, Seniors Club, Pool Top, Beer Gardens, and any maintenance we can do ourselves and sports for young and old. And of course Remembrance Day Services and Parades and school visits. Not to mention the work of our Service Officers in assisting our Veterans and their families to access the benefits they are entitled too and deserve. The List goes on.
Membership.
Nationally the Royal Canadian Legion looses about 10,000 members a year. We at Charleswood are not except from those losses and we are not replacing members fast enough to keep up. Our membership base is getting older. In order to carry on and to insure a strong vibrant Legion that meets the needs of our Veterans and all our members we all have to do our part.
I would like every member of our legion to speak to a friend and family member about coming down to the Legion and seeing what we are all about. Speak to a member of the Executive current or past and find out what may interest you.
Volunteer once a month or once a year. It can be as simple as helping set up for Bingo or the Meat Draws. There is something for everyone. Young and Old.
Personally, I have volunteered with several organizations over the years and found it to be tremendously rewarding. My service to the Legion and our members has been the highlight so far. We have a great group of dedicated people working for all of us. Come and join us and be part of that team.
Thanks.
